I often think of the old “How do you know somebody went to Trinity?” trope when I’m about to tell someone I had a stroke. Yes, me, a seemingly healthy and fit individual. A minimal to non-drinker, a non-smoker, a constant diet improver, a fridge impersonator when running (“running”), a young father, yes, me, I had one. But wait, there’s more, you can have one too! Anyone can really.

I could have died. Trespassers in the brain are rarely a welcome addition. However, I was in the right place at the right time.

So what? Yeah, I’m getting there. When something happens to people they often have an itch, a desire to stop other people going through something, I got that. The Irish Heart Foundation and Acquired Brain Injury Ireland help me to scratch that itch.
